Immanuel’s School of Music has organized programs of varying lengths to meet your particular needs. If you can only attend school for a short time, you will be pleased to know that we have created short-term programs to accompany our longer scheduled programs.

Our programs are tailored for students who desire employment in the music industry as musicians. The programs are also appropriate for those students who want to improve their music skills for their own enjoyment and artistic fulfillment.

Each program includes reading, chord tones, vocal interpretations, scales, harmony, ear training and live playing ensembles. Industry requirements and study principles are also included as a part of each program, no matter the length.

This class provides you with an understanding of the mechanics of contemporary harmony. A placement test will determine your level of study. Your studies will include scales, chords, chord progressions, melodic studies, and music analysis; all at a level within your comprehension. Your musical life will change as you begin to understand what harmony is, how to apply this knowledge to your instrument and how necessary it is to your growth as a player.

In this class, you will learn how to identify melodies, rhythmical patterns, and chord progressions away from your instrument. The goal is to have you develop your relative ear through weekly reading, conducting, and singing exercises. This class trains you to identify what you are hearing; an essential tool to become a great musician.

This class was organized to introduce you to different areas of music and the realities of the music industry. Studies include musical mechanics, study philosophies, music history, the music business, musical improvisation, and logical approaches to playing and practice. Special guest lecturers will be invited throughout the Semester to discuss their experiences in the professional music business.

This is the core program at Immanuel’s School of Music. You will have four private instrument lessons each week. Lessons will include written music from day one. You will work on chords, rhythm, reading, improvisation and instrument - specific exercises, all done at your speed to learn the material. You will develop your abilities & dexterity on your instrument through an organized outline that has been designed to help you strive for your personal best.

Tutoring is available to any student who may need extra assistance with their studies. Qualified tutors are available to provide you with one-on-one support.

THE WHY OF IT ALL
Have you ever stopped to think WHY we do what we do? WHY do we dedicate our time, our intellectual energies, our creative talents…ultimately OUR LIVES to the world of band directing? What is it about this musical, educational, organizational, administrative, always-challenging professional pathway that keeps bringing us back to the rehearsal room, the performance stage, and to those extraordinary students who are willing to go the extra mile to follow us with a sense of commitment unique to the school community? The answer is certainly different for each individual, but the common denominators are:

  • THE LOVE OF MUSIC

  • THE EXCITEMENT OF INTRODUCING OTHERS TO THE JOY OF MUSIC-MAKING.

  • THE SATISFACTION OF WITNESSING THE GROWTH OF OUR STUDENTS AS THEIR TALENTS UNFOLD.

  • THE OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE A FORUM-OF-LEARNING TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR FUTURE CITIZENS.

  • THE CHANCE TO MAKE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE THROUGH THE CONNECTION TO THE ARTISTIC WORLD.

...let the music begin...
Though music can sometimes be a professional calling, it's often much more than a career choice.
